Mar 14, 2023

Ronan Rafferty has joined Sepura’s successful Sales Team in Australia, taking the role of Country Manager. He joins at an exciting time for Sepura as they deploy the first VHF TETRA terminals to the market and continue develop opportunities for broadband solutions

Ronan will be taking over leadership of the team from Doug Bowden who is planning to retire later in 2023. He has the opportunity to build on Sepura considerable success in Australia, where over 120,000 TETRA radio terminals have now been deployed, primarily in mining but also on transport, utilities, and commercial sites.

Ronan Rafferty has extensive experience in developing custom PMR solutions for customers in Australia and will be looking to help grow Sepura’s business across Australia.

Ronan joined Sepura having previously worked for JVCKENWOOD Australia where he managed the Communications and Professional Divisions, primarily selling radio terminals and solutions to mission critical organisations across Australia. Prior to this Ronan lead a division within IBM supporting global software solutions in Dublin, Ireland.

On joining Sepura he said: “I can’t wait to get started! It’s been really exciting spending some time with the team and understanding about our new products heading to market – VHF TETRA is a huge opportunity for Sepura and we are now seeing real traction with our hybrid broadband solutions [link to broadband solutions] which offer real advantages to mining companies in supporting their operations.

“I am looking forward to really getting to know our partners in Australia and helping them to continue to grow their mission critical business.”

Terence Ledger, Regional Director for Middle East & APAC was delighted to add Ronan to his team: “Doug and the team have done a fantastic job in building up Sepura’s presence from a standing start to be the market leader in critical communications for mining in country.

Sepura have now deployed over 120,000 TETRA radios in Australia, mainly within the mining industry

“We want to build on this with Ronan’s appointment and my own focus on Australia, to ensure we can support our customers looking to transition from narrowband to broadband solutions.”

Ronan will be based in Sydney and will operate out of the Sepura Australia office in Melbourne.
