New hires in resources and small and mid-cap industrial sectors

MA Moelis Australia is boosting its equity research capability with new hires in Melbourne and Sydney to expand its equities platform that was established in 2010.

Experienced analyst Paul Hissey joins as an Executive Director and will lead MA Moelis Australia’s equities expansion into the natural resources sector. Paul has over 20 years’ experience in the sector including analyst roles with Goldman Sachs and Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).

Paul commenced his career as a geologist in mining operations and held several resource and production roles at BHP before transitioning to capital markets. He joins MA Moelis Australia after a period working in corporate management. Paul has an MBA and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Hons) from the University of South Australia.

MA Moelis Australia’s Head of Markets, Simon Scott, said the move to strengthen the firm’s capability in the natural resources sector will be welcomed by clients.

MA Moelis Australia also welcomes back Tom Tweedie as Vice President who’ll be re-joining the small and mid-cap industrials research team in Sydney. Tom is an experienced analyst holding similar roles at Bennelong Equity Partners and Platinum Asset Management.  

Tom has a Bachelor of Business from University of Technology, Sydney and is a CFA Charterholder.

MA Moelis Australia is MA Financial Group’s Corporate Advisory and Equities division. It provides securities research, and sales and trading execution services to institutional clients.
